Eligibility & Experience to attend DGMS Manager’s Certificate Exams (as per 2021 Bye-laws notification)



📘 Simplified Notes – DGMS Bye-laws (2021) 1. Practical Experience (Reg. 16)

  • Minimum requirement: Experience less than 1 week in a mine is not counted.
  • Certificate of Experience:
    • Must include → capacity, nature of work, start & end dates.
    • Must be signed only by Mine Manager (with office seal).
    • If the candidate is himself Manager → certificate must be signed by Agent/Owner.
    • Must be in prescribed format.
    • Experience outside duty hours → not valid.
    • Any designation (Supervisor, Engineer, Mate, Worker, Trainee, etc.) after Diploma/Degree in Mining counts as valid mining experience.

2. First Class Manager’s Certificate (Underground Mines) Qualifications & Practical Experience:
  • Degree in Mining Engg. → Min. 1 year underground experience after holding Second Class Manager’s/Foreman’s Certificate.
  • Diploma in Mining Engg. → Min. 4 years underground experience after holding Foreman’s Certificate.
  • 12th / Intermediate or Degree/Diploma in other subjects → Min. 3 years underground experience after holding Foreman’s/Mate’s Certificate.

3. Second Class Manager’s Certificate (Underground Mines)
  • Exemption:
    • B.Tech Mining Engg. → 1 year underground experience after degree.
  • Examination Route:
    • Diploma in Mining Engg. → 3 years underground experience after Foreman’s Certificate.
    • 12th / Degree/Diploma (non-mining) → 2 years underground experience after Foreman’s/Mate’s Certificate.

4. First Class Manager’s Certificate (Restricted to Opencast Mines)
  • Degree in Mining Engg. → 1 year experience (UG or Opencast) after holding Second Class Manager’s/Foreman’s Certificate (restricted or full).
  • Diploma in Mining Engg. → 4 years experience (UG or Opencast) after Foreman’s Certificate.
  • 12th / Other Degree/Diploma → 3 years experience (UG or Opencast) after Foreman’s/Mate’s Certificate.

5. Second Class Manager’s Certificate (Restricted to Opencast Mines)
  • Exemption:
    • B.Tech Mining Engg. → 1 year experience (UG or Opencast) after degree.
  • Examination Route:
    • Diploma in Mining Engg. → 3 years experience after Foreman’s Certificate (restricted/full).
    • 12th / Other Degree/Diploma → 2 years experience after Foreman’s/Mate’s Certificate (restricted/full).
